Sorry for that title. I might get flagged - who knows? But it made me chuckle writing that. I don’t think an Aries-like energy might wanna have it any different. Anyway, I am craving some light-heartedness after surfing the deep waters of Pisces season. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to drown at times, but at other times, oh! we miss to frolick in a red sundress.
Aries Season begins with a bang every year with Spring Equinox in the northern hemisphere. I heard an astrologer say the other day how the first few months of the year can be not just cold in temperature but also lack the optimism, hope and aliveness that only fire can bring. And when we start a year, there is no fire astrologically up until April. No wonder winter blues feel so real. In India, we have been seeing more sun since late February and now finally I am writing my first substack of the year without a sweater. Yay - until I’d be sweating in less than a month and dreaming of winters again!
The fire is also potent because Spring Equinox is birthing the new. Birth requires conceiving which requires fire and passion. And this is why, we are not just starting a new season, we are starting a whole new astrological year with the Aries Season.
Last week I announced that I am open to taking on a web design+/copy project for a creative who’s aspiring to build a website for their gifts. This is branding in tune with your unique astrology and human design energetics. I am delighted to marry my two worlds of marketing and mystic in one thread and if you feel ooooh I wanna know more, come chat with me to share your vision and see if we can co-create magic together :)
Meanwhile,
my live 1:1 sessions and Human Design/Astrology readings can be booked here.
30mins HD + Astro for work, love, money, expression, healing or health personalized recordings here.
30minutes HD mechanics recorded reading for beginners in Human Design here.
Aries is the ram. Aries is ruled by the hottest-tempered planet, Mars. Less patience, more passion. Less tolerance, more temperament. Less fucks, more fire.
Now you see, you ought to think like an Aries to understand or contemplate this energy or this season. Think about a rocket launch. There is a literal fire on its ass because rocket launches CANNOT happen without that immense pressure that could lift that giant iron machine off the ground into space. I mean watch this 1 minute clip to get the coolest Aries feeler.
Honestly, I can end this article right here because this clip is everything Aries.
The initiations, birth, and, launches - none can happen without this intense, fiery, passionate energy. Aries is the initiator of the zodiac. Wherever you have Aries in your chart, that is where you are meant to take charge. It is a very very entrepreneurial energy. It has the zest and spark of new beginnings and that is why, Aries can be excellent people to start up or help people start-up. As a Venus in Aries, I have found this energy very prominent in my life. I hosted a Biz Creation program in 2020, where I helped 5 people start up their business in alignment. All my 20s I’ve been very connected to the start-up world in my work and even very recently I announced that I’d love to support new businesses with conscious, soft branding - anything new, oof! It gives me full-body joy!
Of course, on the shadow side - this is the energy that can get bored easily, or move on to the next thing pre-maturely, or sometimes, pick fights to keep the spark alive. That is the thing with fire, if it does not create the right structure while the fire is lit, it can fizzle out just as quickly.
I have Venus defined in Gate 21 (Gate of Hunter/Huntress also known as THE RESOURCE MANAGER) in Human Design. Gate 21 is the energy to value, respect, and manage all resources. Someone who has this gate defined is naturally very respectable with resources. I keep my word and I never keep someone’s money. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why I am not a big fan of borrowed money, credits, or loans. When I think of it, I cannot help but think of the countless times I have had a meltdown in my business and I am just saying over and over again, “It’s not about the money, it’s about the respect”.
It hurts me when people delay payments, negotiate it more than necessary, when people get fishy about money, or when they simply do not respect the sacred exchange. People might think on the surface that I am being feisty over money, but what I am feisty about is the respect. What I am feisty about is the lack of respect for resources, for money, for my time, for my work invested.
I truly believe that if someone respects me and my work, they will respect the sacred exchange of it just as much. There have been times when I have not been paid for my work, in money, and deliverables, and it’s hurt my self-respect so deeply. No wonder, this energy is excellent for chartered accountants, account managers, and treasurers because they get to be loud and clear about resource management. Unfortunately, the world is still to come to terms with seeing a healer be clear and crisp about money. As a twenty-something who decided to work as a healer and a coach full time, I definitely came in as too much for many healers in India who had made peace with being paid wayyyyy less to ever have it as their source of full-time income. I remember an Indian astrologer asking me to get a full-time job and do this ‘thing’ on the side because ‘ofcourse it doesn’t pay you'. I was like WHAT > THE>HELL!!! NOWAY.
That’s Aries for you.
Aries ask for what they deserve and they stick to it - very unapologetically - even when it’s uncomfortable for everyone. They believe in what their time and energy deserve and command respect for.
Astrologically Aries and Gate 21, shows up for me in my 8th house, a house of intimacy, occult, and hidden arenas. I do not necessarily have a lot of fire in my chart so you would have hardly noticed the Aries in me as a reader or as an audience - but those who have shared the resources, intimacy, and connection with me, oof. They know. It is a potent energy that shows up big in my relationships.
On the positive spectrum, I have taken vulnerable risks and initiations that have been deeply rewarding to break the barriers and form connections and intimacy. It’s something that is the backbone of forming a deep relationship or when you’re doing a sacred work like mine where you need to connect to your clients on that intimate level in one session.
On the negative spectrum, it has also sometimes landed as ‘control’ and need to micromanage everything in my personal relationships and professional partnerships, which is when things mostly get umm, intense and rocky.
After much deeper reflections and inner work with Venus the whole of last year,
I have realized that because I still held on to lots of fear and shame stemming from trauma, my initiations held a lot of shadow. I felt ashamed about exercising control because a)women have been collectively shamed to exercise any sort of leadership anywhere, but especially in love and close relationships. b) I really had big self esteem and self worth issues buried underneath that bravado. So in this context of shame and shadow, there was always going to be a lot of control or no control at all.
A lot of control looked like spiraling way out of my feminine nature and resorting to masculine polarity, which ofcourse, never worked in my heterosexual relationships where a feminine likes to receive.
A loss of control looked like feeling like a victim and giving away my power, mostly reflected in my female friendships, sisterhood, and even my business, which of course, have been equally disastrous.
Both of these tendencies to control or to give up control come from fear. Fear of being seen for who you are, fear of being vulnerable, and eventually, fear of losing.
Losing the love, the connection, the security, the bond,
And, if you know anything about Aries, Aries hate to lose.
Aries love to win and conquer the battlefield. This is why, it’s a beautiful energy for an entrepreneur, a soldier, or an athlete. But, in relationships, well… Aries sits on the opposite spectrum of Libra which is the sign of harmony, partnerships and relationships. Aries is individual, Libra thrives in partnerships. Aries innately knows how to hold the map and lead the pack, but how to pace down and walk with the pack - it doesn’t come naturally.
One of the greatest lessons of astrology and human design is seeing our weaknesses as just what it is and honoring them instead of shaming them or holding shadow against them.
So this when I would lean more on exercising this energy in area where it’s fruitful for me (like games, competing with myself with healthy goals, managing my budget, timer-based workouts etc.) or my other placements, like the beautiful Jupiter in Libra, which is currently going through a major initiation with this upcoming eclipse! (Do you know I offer a Cosmic Check-in session where you can learn how current transits are impacting you?)
Writing these substacks is heart-warming and almost, healing, for my Mercury in Pisces. I am yet to write a substack where I might not have taken a moment to shed a tear or two. And that’s why as much as I love and enjoy it, it’s also hard. It’s hard to come and sit face to face with my shadows every week for truth to bleed through my words.
I am here contemplating with you, and sometimes, contemplations can land like thunderbolts - uncomfortable, electric, and shocking.
Shock - we have a Human Design gate called the gate of Shock (51), The Thunderbolt. It’s an Aries Gate sitting in the Will centre connecting to the G centre through Gate 25. This gate holds the energy to awaken through a shock.
On the “positive” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 51 is the energy for Initiating awakening through the shock of unconditional love. In its highest frequency, gate 51 believes life is trustworthy because of it’s curveballs (rather than in spite of them) and practices radical faith that every moment, even the most horrific ones, are gateways into Divine Love.
On the “negative” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 51 is the energy for using shock to hurt others, pushing people’s buttons, and deeply traumatic life experiences. These are all indicators of losing faith in life/the Divine and ignoring the calls to awaken. - Christie Inge
I do not have a gate 51 nor a gate 25 defined in my chart but my Human Design mentor
has this gate. To say that I have met her in the most awakening period of my life would be an understatement. Every conversation I exchange with her till date seeps into my veins like a shocking call to awaken into my truth even more. Ofcourse, a manifestor does that to you. Many times I am unable to return her texts the very day because our conversations stir something in me and I have to sit and feel through it. I have also been triggered by her a couple of times and one time after one of the group session calls, I texted her, “I am triggered”. Not as an accusation but as a call of support - and I love how she got me back on the call, clarified, and held me through it. I also love that I did not get pissed off at her for triggering me but instead saw it as an opportunity to see it as a trigger to a deeper wound and had the openness and faith to reach out to her. And oh lord, how beautiful that in this heated world, my faith was returned with so much love, kindness and compassion. God knows I needed it!Aries is known for “my way or the highway”.
This is going to be super apparent in this season when we find ourselves butting heads with each other. Word of caution, not everything is black and white. As much as we’d like that because it simplifies things for our brain to compartmentalize, human experience is far more complex. The Aries Gate, Gate 17 in Human Design, the gate of Opinions, is the energy of forming opinions based on alternative perspectives and beliefs.
It gives practical and efficient solutions but only because it’s open-minded. Aries is a cardinal signs, not a fixed sign. It’s not meant to be stubborn otherwise it will stay stuck and will never be curious enough, or fool enough, to jump off the cliff and to see what’s on the other side. It is meant to initiate and catalyze but never to become dogmatic and authoritative with its beliefs.
On the opposite spectrum of Aries, Libra teaches - flexibility, understanding, coming to the middle and creating peace and harmony.
This eclipse story we have been in since April last year is teaching us how to balance individuality and harmony. It’s hard and honestly, I am still understanding this balance but for all we know, Aries’ my-way-or-the-highway is not working. Neither is Libra’s sacrifice and martyrdom in relationships. We have to come in the middle for humanity to thrive otherwise we’d be too stuck in hyper-independence and loneliness (Aries shadow) or codependency and homogeneity (Libra shadow). Yes, Aries is individual, but the individuality is not entirely selfish. It is for the evolution.
When Aries comes into the balance it can take the leaps of faith needed to do things never done before, chart paths never charted before, and explore and innovate inventions never invented before.
Aka do what it came here to do.
Gate 3 highlights this by giving us the energy to create order out of chaos through play. It is the energy that understands that it is not easy to usher into change or *begin* something. It honours that and instead of ruminating on how hard it is to change and catalyze, it uses that energy to bring the change with fun, passion, and lightheartedness. I mean, there is a reason why flirt and fun are key in starting a relationship!
Celebrating the Growth
This finally, brings me to another Aries gate - Gate 42, the Gate of Growth, or The Celebration Doula. This is the energy to bring things through and celebrate the milestones because it serves to be the fuel for accomplishments. This gate is in the sacral center in Human Design and we all know the sacral, is a regenerative life force energy. The more you do what you love, the more it secretes the energy needed to go on. In other words, based on wherever you have Aries in your chart, celebrate your progress and baby your milestones hard. It will give you the energy to keep going if and when the spark seems to dull out. No, you are not doomed as an Aries to never finish your projects and homework. It’s all about knowing how to keep the spark alive (be it in your relationship or your work!). Think of reward systems and fun dates!
So that’s Aries for all of us. I hope you enjoyed this deep contemplation and get to savour it piece by piece throughout this season from 19 March - 19 April. I love to hear the aha moments my substacks ignite in you, so feel free to share them with me xx
Happy Aries Season! Go big, or go home ;)
